Bremen government programme for Work and Technology
- Description of programme
The Free Hanseatic City of Bremen supports small and medium-sized enterprises in implementing new best practices in respect of technology, workforce skilling, health and safety at work. Consideration must be given to gender mainstreaming.
This assistance is aimed at work-centred innovations that are appropriate for protecting existing jobs in industry, the services sector and the craft trades, and for creating new, permanent jobs in for Bremen and Bremerhaven in fields of future importance.
The project results must be transferrable to other companies not involved in the project.
Changes must be designed and implemented within companies with workforce participation.
- Purpose
Joint projects involving competent partners to develop and/or adapt and implement new forms of work organisation, designing workflows with new work tools and testing preventive health measures in the companies participating in the project.
- Support
Support is provided for projects in the form of bridging financing, on the basis of current ESF or EFRD conditions. These are published with the respective invitation to tender. It is not possible to combine ESF and EFRD funding.
All companies participating in a project are required to contribute, usually by releasing employees for work on the project. Direct financial support for companies is not provided.

No maximum amounts are defined.
- Remarks
Project proposals are accepted in response to invitations. The BIA publicises such invitations to submit proposals in official announcements via the Internet. Trade federations, universities and colleges, continuing training centres and intermediary facilities are notified of the invitation and requested to disseminate it.
